Current profile

Andreas Hangleiter works on III/V semiconductors and their heterostructures, including quantum dot systems. His interests include structural, electronic and optical properties as well as the epitaxial growth of heterostructures from such materials. The growth effort, started in 2001, now led to materials with record light emission efficiencies, both in the visible and in the ultraviolet spectral region. Most recently, a novel and intriguing answer to the longstanding question of the high light emission efficiency in the highly defective nitride materials was found.
Teaching experience covers standard courses in physics up to specialised lectures in semiconductor physics and laser physics.
Professor Hangleiter presently serves as a Dean of the Faculty of Physics and Geoscience at the TU Braunschweig.
